Update Firmware

To prepare your ZVUE software update:

1. Download the latest update package to your computer.
* On Windows, right-click the link and select "Save Target As…"
* On Mac OS X with Safari, hold down the option key and click the link.
* In either operating system, save the package zip file to your desktop.
Warning: If you are using Internet Explorer 7, the zip file may be corrupted during download. Please use a different browser, such as Firefox, to download this update.
2. Insert a card into your ZVUE 260 or an SD/MMC Card Reader. If you're using your
ZVUE 260, make sure it is in USB Connect Mode. If you're using Windows, you may
want to reformat the card after connecting.

3. Double-click on the zip file on your desktop to open it in Windows XP or Mac OS X. (Windows 2000 users will need Winzip or some other third-party program to open
zip files.)

4. Copy the two files contained in the zip package to your ZVUE 260.
* Windows users: Open My Computer. If the ZVUE 260 appears as a Removable Disk,
copy the two files from the zip package directly onto the disk icon. If the ZVUE 260
appears as an audio device, double-click on the device icon, then copy the two files
into the Data folder.
* Mac OS X users: The ZVUE 260 should appear as a removable disk on your desktop.
Copy the two files directly onto the disk.

To upgrade your ZVUE 260’s firmware:

1. Turn off the power on your ZVUE 260.

2. If you used an SD/MMC Card Reader to copy the updater files, remove the card and
insert it into your ZVUE 260.

3. Press the power button to turn on your ZVUE 260.

IMPORTANT Make sure you are using fresh batteries or an AC adapter when
updating. If the ZVUE 260 loses power while updating, the unit may become
permanently inoperable.

4. When the update confirmation screen appears, press the center of the navigation
wheel to begin the update, which will take a minute or two.

5. When the ZVUE 260 finishes updating, remove the SD card and press the power
button on your ZVUE 260 to turn it off.

6. Verify the update by turning the ZVUE 260 on, then pressing the Menu button and
selecting About ZVUE 260. The version number should match the update that you downloaded.

NOTE If you want to use the same SD Card you used to update your ZVUE 260, we
recommend that you erase the ZVUE 260 update files. Otherwise, whenever your
ZVUE 260 is turned on with that card inserted, the update files will attempt to update
your ZVUE 260. This is not harmful, just annoying.

* To delete the files, either connect the ZVUE 260 to your computer and delete the files
from the Removable Disk that represents the ZVUE 260, or delete them directly on the
ZVUE 260 by "playing" each file as you would with a normal media file. Then, press
the center of the navigation wheel and select Delete from the menu that appears.

NOTE If you have an early version of the system software (031222 or 040105), then
you will have to use an SD/MMC Card Reader to create the update card. Updating to
the latest software version will let your ZVUE 260 work as an SD/MMC Card Reader.
Earlier versions of the ZVUE 260 software had problems with reading and writing to
SD/MMC Cards.

As of July 2008, ZVUE will stop developing firmware for the 200 series.
